The emulators listed here typically emulate the Atari ST, 800, 800xl, 130XE and 5200 machines. ARAnyM, or 'Atari Running on Any Machine', is a 68040 emulator. Specifically, it emulates an MC68040 withan optional MMU, an MC68881-compatible floating point unit, up to 4 GB of RAM, host-accelerated graphics,with direct access to many resources available on the host machine like sound, disk drives, CD/DVD drives,parallel port, etc. As such, it can serve as a more advanced/modern Atari machine that can run32-bit Atari ST/TT/Falcon operating systems, and TOS/GEM applications. PCE/atarist is an MC68000 emulator for various Atari ST and Mega ST models. At the time this entry was written,the ready-to-run downloads available emulate an Atari 520ST with TOS 1.00 and a 1040ST with TOS 1.04, althoughyou can use your own ROMs. The emulator support TOS 1.00, 1.02, 1.04 and 2.06, up to 14MB of RAM, and can emulateall 3 video modes (though not all border effects), floppy drives, up to 7 hard disks, the serial and parallel ports,a mouse, a keyboard, and output MIDI to a standard MIDI file. Currently, it can emulate the C64, the C64DTV, the C128, the VIC20, most PET models, the PLUS4 and the CBM-II (aka C610).
All the emulators provide an accurate 6502/6510 emulator with precise timing. Unlike similar emulators, VICE aims to be cycle accurate by emulating chip timings as precisely as possible.
